New look & feel for the Tech Wiki

As of July 16, Project Bamboo's Tech Wiki has a new look and feel. The changes have been made to simplify maintenance as much as or more than as an aesthetic change.

The new style moves navigational elements that used to be on the right side of pages to the left side. The left side navigation is automatically applied to each page, and is managed in one place, so changes do not require manual editing of each of the thousand or so pages in the Tech Wiki at the time of this post.

A few top level pages have been edited as part of the initial transition. On pages whose right-side navigation has not been removed, the following message appears:

This right-side column is an artifact of "old-style" navigation. Please remove sections, columns, and content of the right-side column when this page is next edited. Cf. the Wiki navigation changes - July 2011 page for a 'how-to' on removing old-style page markup.

If you're a team member who actively creates and edits wiki pages, please help out with the look-and-feel transition in the following ways:

1. Do not use a template to create 'regular' pages,^* and do not include right-side navigation in the "old style" – in-line sections, columns, or excerpt-includes
2. When you edit a page please remove sections, columns, and the content of the right-side column, as described on the Wiki navigation changes - July 2011 page

^* It's fine to use templates if you're creating a standard-format page, such as a status report or a set of Service Description Repository pages. Regular page creation should not involve use of templates. As of 16 July 2011, most templates in this wiki space have been edited to remove right-side navigation, or have been marked as deprecated (not to be used).
